Johannesburg's race on TV

A tape of the Gladness Stakes, in which the Irish-based colt Johannesburg made his seasonal debut, will be broadcast by ESPN2 on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. Eastern time and by ESPN on Saturday at 5:30 a.m. Eastern.

Johannesburg finished second by a head to the filly Rebelline in the Gladness Stakes, which was run at seven furlongs on turf Sunday at The Curragh in Ireland.

Johannesburg won the Bessemer Trust Breeders' Cup Juvenile last fall at Belmont and was votedthe Eclipse Award as champion 2-year-old colt for 2001. His connections have said they want to race him in the Kentucky Derby but have not yet made a formal commitment.
