Joe Six Pack ($3.20) cruises to the wire a two-length winner of the $100,000 Jean Lafitte at Delta Downs Saturday night.

Joe Six Pack remained undefeated in three starts Saturday night when he turned back a stretch bid from Mr. Jester to win the $100,000 Jean Lafitte by two lengths at Delta Downs in Vinton, La. The race was the local prep for the $1 million Delta Jackpot on Dec. 5.

Joe Six Pack ($3.20) settled in second early in the one-mile race for 2-year-olds, while Depop led the field through the opening half-mile in 47 seconds. Joe Six Pack took over on the final turn, and went on to cover the distance in 1:39.78. Mr Jester, who was carried wide in the first turn, rallied for second, finishing 25 lengths in front of third-place finisher Vic Mason.

"Everything went as planned," said Carlos Gonzalez, who rode Joe Six Pack and was pleased that the colt was able to stalk the pace in his first start around two turns.

Joe Six Pack earned $60,000 for the win, which was his third from as many starts. He has earned $97,800 for owners Gary and Mary West and is trained by Cole Norman.
