Jockey Tyler Baze out with broken finger

DEL MAR, Calif. - Jockey Tyler Baze, currently second in the standings at Del Mar, will miss at least one week with a broken finger on his left hand, his agent, Ronnie Ebanks, said Sunday morning.

Baze fractured the pinky on his left hand when thrown from his mount prior to the final race on Saturday.

Ebanks said Baze would have to give up mounts on Monterey Jazz in next Saturday's Del Mar Mile, and Obrigado in next Sunday's Del Mar Handicap. He is holding out hope that Baze can return in time to ride Virginia Derby winner Battle of Hastings on Labor Day weekend in the Del Mar Derby.
