ARCADIA, Calif. – Jockey Jamie Theriot has been suspended 15 calendar days for switching saddles without approval or knowledge of racing officials at Del Mar on Aug. 20, according to a ruling published by Santa Anita stewards on Sunday.

The suspension runs from Monday through Nov. 13.

According to stewards, Theriot weighed out with one saddle and then replaced the saddle before the race. Theriot weighed in after the race two pounds over his assigned weight with the second saddle, stewards said.

Theriot rode He’s Munnie to a third-place finish in a field of six in a $40,000 claimer at six furlongs.

Theriot, 38, has won 28 races from 273 mounts this year. He won two Grade 2 stakes at the Del Mar summer meeting – the San Clemente Stakes on Madam Dancealot and the Sorrento Stakes on Spectator.

Theriot took off his lone mount at Santa Anita on Sunday. He has relocated to Fair Grounds in New Orleans, which starts its winter meeting on Nov. 18, according to stewards.
