Jockey Ouzts hurt, out 6 to 8 weeks

Jockey Perry Ouzts is expected to be sidelined six to eight weeks after suffering a compound fracture in his right forearm in a spill in the second race Sunday at Turfway Park in Florence, Ky.

Ouzts, 51, was injured when his mount, Finders Chance, suddenly fell near the quarter pole after racing near the lead. Ouzts was taken to nearby St. Luke's Hospital, where he underwent three hours of surgery Monday to have a plate and screws inserted into the arm. Ouzts also suffered a dislocation of the humerus, just above the elbow, in the same arm, and a deep thigh bruise. The horse was not seriously injured.
