Mageez gave jockey Ashley Broussard a sweep of the weekend stakes at Delta Downs on Saturday night when he closed from last to win the $65,000 B-Connected. Broussard on Friday night won the track’s $65,000 Lookout with Illussion Artist. It was the second time Broussard has swept the B-Connected and Lookout at Delta; she won the races on the same weekend in 2015. The B-Conneted and Lookout are restricted to Louisiana-breds who have not won a stakes. Each race was run at a mile. Mageez ($8.20) trailed the field in the early stages Saturday, as Zendelphian set fractions of 22.92 seconds for the opening quarter and 47.09 for the half-mile. Mageez reached contention on the second turn and overtook the leaders in the stretch for a 1 1/2-length win over Southern Argument. It was another half-length back to favorite Fort Pulaski in third. Mageez covered the distance on a muddy, sealed track in 1:37.90. Delmar Caldwell trains Mageez for Double Dam Farm. The winner is a son of Musket Man.
