Jockey Mitchell Murrill worked out a perfect trip for Jockamo's Song in the Costa Rising Stakes.

NEW ORLEANS – Jockamo’s Song got a terrific stalking trip under Mitchell Murrill in winning the $60,000 Costa Rising Stakes, the race that immediately followed the Louisiana Derby on Saturday at Fair Grounds.

Always in the garden spot from the rail post, Jockamo’s Song took over for Brilliant Interest inside the eighth pole before holding off the steady outside run of Eden Grey’s Kitten. Jockamo’s Song paid $15.80 after finishing the 5 1/2-furlong distance in 1:03.19 over a firm turf course.

Jockamo’s Song, a gray 4-year-old gelding, is owned by Dare to Dream Stable and trained by Mike Stidham.

The Costa Rising drew a field of 11 older Louisiana-breds. Heitai, a winner of more than $1 million, was the 9-5 favorite but faded badly after failing to make the early lead.

The $2 exacta (1-11) paid $106, the $1 trifecta (1-11-2) returned $599, and the 10-cent superfecta (1-11-2-9) was worth $1,121.15.
