Jim and Tonic in final prep

PARIS - Jim and Tonic will attempt to confirm his Breeders' Cup Mile credentials in the Group 2 Prix du Rond-Point at Longchamp on Saturday.

The 7-year-old Jim and Tonic is coming off a victory in the 1 1/4-mile La Coupe de Maisons-Laffitte on Sept 18. The drop back to a mile should pose no problem, as he took the 1 1/8-mile Dubai Duty Free in March and has won group races at the Rond-Point distance in France and Hong Kong.

His main threat will come from China Visit, the Godolphin runner who has failed to find the winner's circle since taking the UAE Derby last year. He was last seen finishing second to Tough Speed in the Group 3 Park Stakes at a mile, but Jim and Tonic is a much tougher prospect.

* Johannesburg will very likely be coming to Belmont Park for the Breeders' Cup Juvenile after a scintillating victory in the Group 1 Middle Park Stakes at Newmarket on Thursday. The colt all but assured himself the European 2-year-old championship with his decisive three-length defeat of Zipping.
