Jill Byrne joins Breeders' Cup Ltd.

Jill Byrne, the director of broadcast and programming at Churchill Downs for the past nine years, has been hired by Breeders’ Cup Ltd. to be the organization’s senior director of industry relations, Breeders’ Cup announced on Thursday.

Byrne, who will be based at Breeders’ Cup’s Lexington, Ky., office, will focus on relations between Breeders’ Cup and nominators, owners, trainers, and sales companies, the organization said. She will also assist in recruitment efforts for U.S. and Canadian horses.

Byrne is familiar to racing fans because of her role as the televised racing analyst for live race cards at Churchill Downs. Breeders’ Cup said she will begin at the organization on May 15, eight days after Churchill hosts this year’s Kentucky Derby.

Great lady!!  She interviewed me after we won the New Orleans Handicap.  I was in shock so she didn't have much to work with.  Good Luck Jill, I know you will do a great job!

somebody smart needs to join -- I mean the BC is going down like the rest of the sport.

Running a BC @DMR or SA is a huge mistake and does not attract and will never attract the best horses in the world....Those racing ovals are way to small to hold competitive large BC fields.

DMR will be the biggest joke of a track for the BC - skipping betting on it this year....My BC day is Dubai World Cup day -- just as competitive and the racing oval doesnt comprise your chance to win like it does here!
