Jet Away Jane just gets up

Jet Away Jane ($9.60) erased a 2 1/2-length deficit in the final furlong and survived a claim of foul to defeat 4-5 favorite S W Aly'svalentine in the $75,000 Foxy J.G. Stakes for Pennsylvania-bred fillies and mares at Philadelphia Park.

The 6-year-old S W Aly'svalentine looked like a winner when she pulled away from pacesetter Coffee Shop and took a clear lead into deep stretch of the six-furlong race. But Jet Away Jane, making her first start since November, rallied under Angel Rodriguez, made contact when the favorite bore out under left-handed whipping, and got up in the final stride by a neck. The winning time over a track labeled "good" was 1:10.85.

Vladimir Diaz, the rider of S W Aly'svalentine, claimed foul, but his objection was disallowed.

Jet Away Jane, second behind S W Aly'svalentine the last time they met in the Pistol Packer Handicap in May 2007, has now won 7 of 23 lifetime starts for Golden Oak Farm and trainer Thomas Miller.
