GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas - Janeian, who almost set a Lone Star Park course record when she won the $75,000 Irving Distaff last month, will attempt to remain perfect over the local turf Monday, when she takes on Katdogawn and Bedanken in the Grade 3, $200,000 WinStar Distaff.

A one-mile turf race for fillies and mares, the WinStar Distaff is one of seven stakes worth a total of $1 million during the annual Lone Star Million Day program Monday. The richest race on the card is the Grade 3, $300,000 Lone Star Park Handicap, which is led by Kela.

Janeian, who is 3 for 3 on the Lone Star turf, rallied for a four-length win last out in the Irving Distaff. She covered 7 1/2 furlongs on the Lone Star turf in 1:28.24. The course record is 1:28.20.

Last fall, Janeian set a course record for 1 1/16 miles on turf at Hawthorne on Oct. 11, when she won the $150,000 Indian Maid in 1:39.86.

"The one thing that was different in her last race from her previous races was how she's learning to relax," said Bret Calhoun, who trains Janeian for Greg England.

Calhoun looks for Janeian to move forward Monday. She won the Irving on April 17, following a layoff of more than four months. Janeian has won 8 of 30 starts and $235,294.

Katdogawn, a Grade 2 winner on turf, is expected to be the highweight in the WinStar at 120 pounds. Janeian and Bedanken were each assigned 119.

As of Wednesday, 13 were probable for the race, according to Lone Star stakes coordinator Mike Shamburg. The gate limit is 12.

The other probables are Due to Win Again, 118; Fudge Fatale, 116; Super High, 116; Academic Angel, 115; Cherylville Slew, 115; Titia, 115; Adalgisa, 114; Cat's Cat, 114; Formal Miss, 114; and Mexican Moonlight, 114.

Megahertz, who is not expected to start, was made the 123-pound highweight for the WinStar.

Kela highweighted at 121

Kela, a 5 1/4-length winner of the Grade 3, $300,000 Texas Mile in his last start, has been made the 121-pound highweight for the Lone Star Park Handicap. There were 11 probables for the race as of Wednesday, said Shamburg.

Possible for the race is Added Edge, who was weighted at 116.

Pie N Burger, who won last year's Lone Star Park Handicap, is not expected to defend his title.

The other handicap on the Lone Star Million Day program is the $100,000 Beck Auto Group Turf Sprint. Aloha Bold and Mighty Beau, who were each weighted at 117 pounds, are the expected highweights.

Others considered probable for the Beck are Callthesheriff, Don Manuel, Ghannam, Gold Storm, and Runaway Choice, according to Jeanette Hughes, assistant racing secretary at Lone Star.
