Jac's Fact turns tables on Plain 'Ol Willard in Ruff/Kirchberg

Email

The 3-year-old Jac’s Fact, stretching out from six furlongs to 1 1/8 miles just six days after running the fastest race of his career, turned the tables on odds-on favorite Plain ‘Ol Willard in Saturday’s $50,000 Ruff/Kirchberg Memorial Handicap for Ohio-accredited horses at Mahoning Valley Racecourse.

Racing on a sloppy, sealed track, Jac’s Fact ($6.60) tracked pacesetter Key Low through six furlongs in 1:16.60. Under jockey Megan Fadlovich, Jac’s Fact took command on the far turn and drew clear to win by 2 ½ lengths in 1:57.67. Plain ‘Ol Willard, sent off at 4-5 after beating Jac’s Fact in back-to-back stakes in September and October, had to settle for second, 3 ¼ lengths in front of 35-1 outsider Geppetto.

Trained by Ivan Vazquez for Raymond Donald, Jac’s Fact has now won 6 of 18 starts and $173,380.
