J J's Lucky Train, Jose Ferrer up, wins the Miracle Wood.

J J's Lucky Train got back to winning on Saturday, cutting back to seven furlongs to win the $51,500 Miracle Wood by a neck over the odds-on Bandbox at Laurel Park.

After a pair of second-place finishes in two-turn races at Aqueduct, J J's Lucky Train made the trip to Baltimore for trainer William Anderson. Ridden by Jose Ferrer, J J's Lucky Train prompted the pace set by Bandbox through a quarter-mile in 22.83 seconds, a half-mile in 45.90. He took a short lead three-sixteenths of a mile out, dueled with Bandbox down the stretch, and was a neck in front at the wire. Wicked Thunder, bumped at the start, could only chase the leaders and settle for third, 8 1 / 2/ lengths behind.

J J.s Lucky Train, a 3-year-old son of Silver Train, finished in 1:21.60 on a fast track, paying $4.40 as the second choice.
