Ittakestwobaby risks streak

Ittakestwobaby puts his streak of three straight stakes wins on the line Saturday when he faces six others in the $15,000 Journal Star Stakes for 3-year-olds going six furlongs at Lincoln.

Ittakestwobaby was the overwhelming choice for 3-year-old of the meet at Fonner Park, rattling off consecutive wins in the Bachman, Baxter, and Fonner Park Special stakes for trainer David Anderson. He will be facing new competition in this spot but should still be a well-deserving favorite with Damon Leeds set to ride from post 7.

City Slicker comes into the Journal Star off a 1 3/4-length win over allowance company at Fonner Park on April 26 for trainer Kelly Clark. Last year, City Slicker finished third in the Club House Special at Columbus and then was second in the KTA Futurity at the Woodlands in October. Beth Butler will ride from post 1.

Paradise Pete makes his first start of the year after being based with Jeff Mullins in California last summer. A son of Rio Verde now trained by Kim Veerhusen, Paradise Pete won his maiden against California-bred $40,000 maiden claimers. He has been working forwardly here, checking in with a 1:00.60 five-furlong breeze last Sunday.

Untouchable Time finished third going a mile against second-level allowance company here on opening weekend. Untouchable Time, trained by Mark Lemburg, fell a head short of catching Ittakestwobaby in the Baxter Stakes at Fonner and has been a consistent closer who could pose an upset threat.
