Iowa sale catalog now online

The catalog for the Iowa Thoroughbred Breeders and Owners Association fall sale of all ages is now available online, with 64 horses on offer.

The sale will be held Sunday, Oct. 16, at the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines beginning at 1 p.m. Central. Horses may be viewed Saturday, Oct. 15, from 1-4 p.m. and on Oct. 16 starting at 10 a.m.

Included in the catalog are 54 yearlings, five broodmares, two weanlings, two juveniles, and a stallion.

Stallions whose first crops of yearlings are represented in the catalog include Alternation, Awesome Patriot, Flat Out, Justin Phillip, and Keep Up.

The stallion on offer is Spaniard, a stakes-placed son of Candy Ride who has stood the bulk of his breeding career in Ontario. He has sired two crops of racing age, with four winners and the stakes-placed runner Lyla Lorraine.

Spaniard won three of 11 races during his ontrack career for earnings of $144,197 and finished third in the 2010 Pirate’s Bounty Stakes at Del Mar. He is out of the Grade 3-placed stakes-winning Flying Chevron mare Shameful, making him a half-brother to two-time champion Indian Blessing.
