Involuntary, Angry Patty are stakes winners at Suffolk Downs

Email

Tight finishes were the results of back-to-back $75,000 stakes that anchored a 10-race card at Suffolk Downs on Saturday.

In the Drumtop Stakes, Involuntary gamely held off Shake Down Baby in the desperate final yards, returning $5.60 as favorite in a field of seven fillies and mares. Daniel Centeno was aboard for trainer Arnaud Delacour in the one-mile turf race for 3-year-old fillies without a prior stakes win.

A half-hour earlier, Angry Patty ($6.20) fought back after the odds-on favorite, Tania, seemed to have put her away when posting a narrow victory in the Louise Kimball, a six-furlong race for Massachusetts-bred 3-year-old fillies. David Amiss was aboard Angry Patty for trainer Derek Ryan.

Saturday was the third of six days of live racing this year at Suffolk in East Boston, Mass.
