Interesting allowance matchup

A couple of promising and late-developing 3-year-olds will square off in Friday night's featured race at Evangeline Downs. The entry-level allowance slated for a mile drew seven Louisiana-breds and carries a $37,000 purse.

Oro Tributo, a Gold Tribute gelding trained by Troy Young, ran to his odds-on price here in a mile-and-70-yard maiden race on June 28, finishing strongly to prevail by 3 1/2 lengths over a strip labeled wet-fast. In his only other start, Oro Tributo reported home a fast-closing third at the difficult debut distance of seven furlongs in May. Curt Bourque, aboard for both of Oro Tributo's starts, will once again be in the saddle.

Good Decisions caught an off track in his last start, but unlike Oro Tributo did not appear to enjoy the sloppy going. Trained by Denise Schmidt, Good Decisions graduated with a bang two starts ago with a front-running 10 1/4-length score against maidens going a mile. Good Decisions appears to be in position to once again control the pace and has been training forwardly between starts.
