Integral faces stiff competition in Prix Rothschild

Email

Integral will face only three rivals when she attempts to win her third consecutive major stakes of the summer in Sunday’s $402,600 Prix Rothschild for fillies and mares over a mile on turf in Deauville, France.

Trained by Michael Stoute, Integral won the Group 2 Duke of Cambridge Stakes at Royal Ascot in June and the Group 1 Falmouth Stakes at Newmarket in July. Both of those races were over a mile.

Owned by Cheveley Park Stud, Integral, a 4-year-old filly by Dalakhani, has won 5 of 8 starts. The Group 1 Prix Rothschild will be her first start outside of England.

Despite the small field, Integral will face a test. The competition includes Miss France, the winner of the English 1000 Guineas in May; L’Amour de Ma Vie, who was second to Integral in the Duke of Cambridge Stakes; and Esoterique, who beat Integral in the Group 3 Dahlia Stakes at Newmarket in May but was ninth in the Duke of Cambridge.

Miss France, trained by Andre Fabre, was a troubled fifth June 15 in the French Oaks at Chantilly in her most recent start.

** Wunder, the winner of the Group 3 Prix Chloe at Chantilly, France, on June 30, is one of 12 3-year-old fillies in Sunday’s $671,000 German Oaks over 1 3/8 miles on turf at Dusseldorf. Trained by Markus Klub, Wunder was a stakes winner in Germany in May.
