Injury keeps Nashinda from Oaks

Nashinda, who would have been no worse than second favorite for Sunday's $500,000 Labatt Woodbine Oaks, will miss the race because of a bruised foot.

"After she galloped a mile and jogged a mile yesterday, she pulled up bad," trainer Mac Benson said Friday. Benson trains Nashinda for owner-breeder George Strawbridge Jr. "When she came back to the barn, the further she went the sorer she got.

"I hope it's just an abscess, but as sore as she is, with the heat in her foot, we couldn't enter her. There's no way 48 hours could change enough for us to consider it."
