DEL MAR, Calif. – Jockey Flavien Prat, injured when tossed from a horse at the start of the third race on Sunday at Del Mar, was released from the hospital on Monday but has been ordered not to ride until Santa Anita begins Dec. 26 and thus will miss the final week of the Del Mar meeting, his agent, Derek Lawson, said Monday.

“Out of precaution, the doctor doesn’t want him to ride until Santa Anita, so we’re done for Del Mar,” Lawson said.

Del Mar’s meeting has four days remaining, ending Sunday. Prat is currently the leading rider with 11 victories.

Prat was thrown to the ground at the start of race 3 on Sunday when his mount, We Go Now, stumbled badly. Prat was cleared to ride by first-aid but prior to his remaining three mounts noticed blood in his urine and took off. He was taken to Scripps La Jolla Hospital and kept overnight for observation.

“The bleeding has subsided,” Lawson said. “But the doctor doesn’t want him to get on a horse again until Santa Anita.”
