Indyanne dominates Debutante

Indyanne ($2.10) romped to a six-length victory in the $63,600 Bay Meadows Debutante.

The 2-year-old filly defeated stablemate This Side Up, covering six furlongs in 1:10.41.

Indyanne easily outsped Kooky Kelly down the backstretch with jockey David Lopez sitting still as Kooky Kelly was being hustled. Lopez was already looking between his legs for competition before approaching the turn. She pulled away from there, and Lopez gave Indyanne only one tap of the whip through the stretch.

"She can run, huh," Lopez said upon entering the winner's circle. "She's a machine. She did everything like a professional."

"Things like that are good for your confidence," winning trainer Greg Gilchrist said. "We're probably done around here. We'll look for something in a month or so.

"The Breeders' Cup is probably in the back of my mind somewhere. We'd have to run a mile somewhere before then. The stars would really have to line up right for it to be a possibility."

The total show pool was $895,455 with $826,566 bet on Indyanne, creating a minus pool of $165,752. There was a minus $3,004 place pool as well, with $23,076 of the $29,447 in the pool bet on Indyanne.

A $375,000 purchase for David and Jill Heerensperger, Indyanne is now 2 for 2 in her career. She earned $41,500 to lift her career total to $59,500.
