Indy Groove wins the Arlington Matron Handicap by 4 1/2-lengths on Saturday.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. - Miss Terrible was favored at even-money Saturday in the , but jockey Mark Guidry seemed to know right away that the favorite was shaky.

Guidry put Indy Groove on Miss Terrible's flank going into the first turn of the 1 1/8-mile Matron, and kept the pressure on until Miss Terrible wilted before the quarter pole. With the one horse he had to beat finished, Guidry guided Indy Groove to a 4 1/2-length win over Quick Temper in the Grade 3, $150,000 Matron. Diavla rallied for third, with Miss Terrible, a one-time Argentine champion, fading badly, finishing last of seven.

Indy Groove, owned by the Glen Hill Farm of Leonard Lavin and trained by Tom Proctor, got good at this time last year, and wound up finishing sixth in the Breeders' Cup Distaff. Maybe a Breeders' Cup redux is in the works. Indy Groove, who paid $5.40 to win as the second choice, was timed in a solid 1:49.87 and was visually impressive in victory.

Miss Terrible, beaten just more than six lengths last out in the Beverly D., never really looked comfortable.
