Indigo Girl wires

Taking command soon after the start, Indigo Girl relaxed nicely under Kerwin Clark and captured Friday night's $75,000 Goddess Stakes at Evangeline Downs in front-running style. Culinary staged a modest rally to finish second, 6 1/2 lengths behind, followed by Ballroom Deputy, three-quarters of a length back in third.

The favorite, Precocious Kat, saw her four-race win streak come to an end as she turned in an even effort and finished fourth.

Trained by Sam Breaux, Indigo Girl ($14.40) is a multiple stakes winner sprinting who had not tried two turns in over a year. A 4-year-old Louisiana-bred filly, she has now won half of her 16 starts for R. Davis and Associates, and the winner's share of $45,000 increased her career bankroll to just over $300,000. The winning time for the mile was 1:38.91 over a fast track.
