Indiana stallion Unbridled Express represented by first winner

Unbridled Express, a Grade 1-placed winner and Indiana-based sire, was represented by his first winner Wednesday night when the 2-year-old filly Express Model scored at Indiana Downs.

Express Model, a gray or roan filly homebred by LTB Inc. and Hillerich Racing LLC, stalked the pace and drew off powerfully to win by 4 3/4 lengths. She covered five furlongs in 1:01.07 on a fast track. The filly had previously finished sixth in her career debut June 6 at Churchill Downs.

The filly is out of the winning Mutakddim mare Miss Carmelite and is from the family of multiple stakes winner and Grade 3-placed Crimson Stag.

Unbridled Express, a 9-year-old son of Unbridled’s Song, stands at Hidden Springs Farm in Palmyra, Ind. He has five foals in his first crop, and Express Model was his first starter.

Bred by Conway and Hillerich Racing and trainer Bernie Flint in Kentucky, Unbridled Express won his second career start at Churchill Downs in summer 2006 and then finished third behind Circular Quay and Scat Daddy in the Grade 1 Hopeful at Saratoga. He did not race again until 2009 and made two more starts before being retired with $$68,905 in earnings.

The stallion is out of the Sky Classic mare Skye Castles and is from the family of Japanese champion Hishi Akebono, English Group 1 winner Agnes World, and multiple stakes winner My Sea Castles.
