Indiana, Iowa get 2007 dates similar to '06

The racing commissions in both Indiana and Iowa granted 2007 racing dates earlier this week.

In Indiana, Hoosier Park was granted a 61-day Thoroughbred meeting and Indiana Downs a 49-day Thoroughbred meeting.

Hoosier Park will run basically the same 61-day schedule in 2007 as it is currently running. The track will race Wednesdays through Sundays from Sept. 1 through Nov. 24 next year.

Indiana Downs, which ran a 48-day meeting this year, will run from April 27 through July 3 in 2007. The track will race Monday through Wednesday as well as Friday and Saturday each week.

In Iowa, Prairie Meadows will conduct a total of 86 days of Thoroughbred racing split into two meets. A 46-day Thoroughbred meet from April 20 through July 3 will be followed by a 40-day mixed meeting from July 10 through Sept. 15, both with racing on Monday and Tuesday afternoons and Friday and Saturday evenings.

This year, Prairie conducted a 45-day Thoroughbred meet and a 36-day mixed meeting.
