Indiana Grand sets up perfectly for Sister Ginger

Sister Ginger took advantage of a perfect trip under Ricardo Santana Jr. to win the $125,000 Indiana Grand at Indiana Downs on Saturday evening.

Trained by Steve Asmussen, Sister Ginger ($5) saved ground to the far turn while in behind the dueling leaders over a soft turf course. Midway around the turn, Santana took his mount off the rail  to split horses and Sister Ginger surged into the stretch to draw clear late to win by 1 1/2 lengths. Longshot Miss Scout closed for second, a neck in front of pacesetting Finding More ,who tired to wind up third.

Sister Ginger ran the one mile in 1.36.76.

Agent Di Nozza, ridden by Marlon St. Julien,  took advantage of a ground-saving trip to win the $100,000 Golden Bear.

St. Julien had Agent Di Nozza ($4.40) back early in the field and saved ground throughout. St. Julien asked Agent Di Nozza for his best into the stretch and his mount slipped through along the rail to draw clear to a 1 1/4-length victory for trainer Steve Margolis. Mr. Bowling was second, 1 1/2 lengths in front of Sabercat.

Agent Di Nozza ran 1 1/16 miles  over a fast track in 1.45.24.
