Indian Ink targets Vivacious repeat

Indian Ink won the Vivacious prep and will try to replicate that effort in the $50,000 Vivacious on Saturday at River Downs.

Trained by Mike Rone, Indian Ink won the 7 1/2-furlong prep July 16 by 3 3/4 lengths. It was the second stakes win this season for the 6-year-old mare, who previously won the T.F. Classen at Thistledown on April 30, her first out this season. Indian Ink won the Vivacious in 2010 and has won 3 of 6 on the turf, all at River Downs. Perry Ouzts retains the mount.\

Muir Woods has two wins, both in stakes. Her first victory came locally May 14 in the Tomboy. That 1 1/16-mile event was scheduled for the turf, but was rained off and run over a muddy main track. In her most recent out, July 16, she won the Queen City Oaks. Both wins were against 3-year-old Ohio-bred fillies, and both victories were by 3 3/4 lengths.

Trained by Tim Hamm, Muir Woods will be facing older Ohio-bred fillies and mares for the first time. Mario Madrid, aboard for both of her wins, retains the mount.

A full field of 12 will run, although 13 were entered in the 1 1/16-mile turf event. If all entrants are to run, Lipstick ’n Lace, part of the Kris Nemann entry, will have to scratch.

Others in the field include Jojo Jettin, Adreamfordarlene, Doubled Vision, French Chew, Derby Day Storm, Devil’s Lil Bit, Ready To Rock, and the entry of Country Club Sue and Honey Be Fleet.
