Include to go in Jennings again

NEW ORLEANS - Even though his first early-season objective, the Grade 1 Pimlico Special, was scrapped this year, trainer Bud Delp is proceeding as planned with the comeback of Include. Include, who won the Special last year, is scheduled to make his first start of the year on April 20 in the Jennings Handicap at Pimlico.

Last year, Include won the Jennings - which is restricted to Maryland-breds - in a perfect prep for the Pimlico Special, where he scored a narrow victory over Albert the Great for his only Grade 1 victory. Now, with the Special off the map, Delp is not certain where Include will go after the Jennings, but he does want to start the horse six weeks later in the Grade 2 Massachusetts Handicap, which Include also won last season.

Include, who came to prominence with a win in the New Orleans Handicap last March, finished off the board in the Breeders' Cup Classic and concluded his year with a second-place finish in the Clark Handicap at Churchill Downs. He was given a winter break, but has been back in training since Feb. 1. Include has breezed several times and was scheduled to work again Saturday.

"He's training well," Delp said. "Our major goal with him this year is the Breeders' Cup Classic at Arlington Park."
