Impolite ($8.20) with Jose Ferrer riding wins the Little Silver Stakes at Monmouth Park.

OCEANPORT, N.J. - Impolite celebrated her return to the turf with a gate-to-wire triumph Sunday afternoon in the $50,000 Little Silver Stakes for 3-year-old fillies at Monmouth Park.

Riden by Jose C. Ferrer, Impolite ran the 1 1/16 miles in 1:41.99 and paid $8.20 to win.

Impolite had caught three straight stakes slated for the turf that wound up on the main track. She did not enjoy the shift as her performance deteriorated with each wet track experience.

Back on firm turf, Impolite reasserted her abundant early speed.

Impolite bounded to the front right from the start and maintained a comfortable lead, opening up by 1 1/2 lengths at the top of the lane. She held resolutely for a one-length victory.

"I didn't think I'd get the lead that easily," Ferrer said. "I thought there was more early speed in here. I got an easy pace and it was all over turning for home."

Film Maker made a late run to get second with Marc's Rainbow third.

Jeb's Wild sizzles

The final card of the holiday weekend also featured a second $50,000 turf stakes, the John McSorley at five furlongs.

Jeb's Wild ($5.20) stormed through the stretch to win by 1 1/2 lengths in :55.57 with Joe Bravo in the irons for trainer Tim Hills.

"I don't think I've ever ridden a horse that ran the last quarter mile like that," Bravo said. "At the top of the lane I knew I had it won."

Ghostly Numbers finished second with Namequest third.
