Impetuous Molly wins Rainbow Miss

With the exception of a slow break, heavily favorite Impetuous Molly ($2.40) was in complete control and drew clear in deep stretch for the victory in Sunday's Rainbow Miss Stakes for Arkansas-breds at Oaklawn Park.

HOT SPRINGS, Ark - Impetuous Molly overcame a slow break at 1-5 to win the $50,000 Rainbow Miss for 3-year-old statebred fillies at Oaklawn Park on Sunday.

She won by four and a half lengths over Patti Ching, who was five and a quarter lengths clear of third-place finisher Nenantena.

Impetuous Molly raced in third early while Cinnamon Silk led the field through an opening quarter in 22.23 seconds. The eventual winner took the lead nearing the quarter pole, and went on to cover six furlongs in 1:11.85.

Jamie Theriot rode the winner for Roy Sanders and trainer Cole Norman. Impetuous Molly earned $30,000 for the win, which improved her record to three wins from five starts for earnings of $59,860.

Impetuous Molly created a $61,353 minus show pool, and paid $2.40 to win, $2.20 to place and $2.20 to show.
