Ide Like a Double snags his second straight Oak Hall

OPELOUSAS, La. - Ide Like a Double successfully defended his title in the $50,000 Oak Hall Stakes on Saturday night at Evangeline Downs, rallying down the stretch under John Jacinto to best Pantara Phantom by 1 1/4 lengths. It was another three-quarters of a length back to pacesetter Chief Jay, who was followed by Headstart. Flashy Wise Cat, the 6-5 favorite, failed to fire and reported home fifth.

Trained by Byron Gilbert for owner Valene Farms, Ide Like a Double ($13.40) covered the seven furlongs in 1:24.11 over a fast track. The 5-year-old son of Ide picked up his second stakes win of the year, having also captured the Costa Rising Stakes at Fair Grounds in March. He has now won 9 of 29 career starts and earned more than $560,000.
