I Spent It wins the 2014 Saratoga Special Stakes.

I Spent It, winner of the 2014 Grade 2 Saratoga Special Stakes, has been retired from racing and will stand at stud in 2016 at J. Michael O’Farrell’s Ocala Stud in Ocala, Fla. A fee will be determined and announced later. A 3-year-old son of Super Saver out of Rateeba, by Sky Mesa, I Spent It won 2 of 7 starts and earned $347,640.

“I Spent It was a tremendously gifted 2-year-old, and he looks like what you would expect of a $600,000 juvenile when you see him physically,” O’Farrell said of the colt who was sold at the 2014 Fasig-Tipton March 2-year-olds in training sale for $600,000. “He represents the first graded stakes winner sired by Super Saver, who is emerging as the best Kentucky Derby winner the industry has seen at stud since Seattle Slew. So we think I Spent It is a very exciting and current horse for the Florida market, and breeders are going to gravitate to this horse when they see him.”

I Spent It won his debut in maiden race at Belmont in July 2014, running five furlongs in 58.11 seconds. In his next start, he won the Saratoga Special over Mr. Z and followed that by running second to Competitive Edge in the Grade 1 Hopeful Stakes. At year-end, he was weighted at 116 pounds on the Experimental Free Handicap.

I Spent It is from the first crop of Kentucky Derby winner Super Saver. On his female side, he is from the family of Grade 1 winner and sire Dixie Union.
