Humaita gets her nose ahead of Aud to win the Rood and Riddle Dowager Stakes at Keeneland.

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The two favorites in the Rood and Riddle Dowager Stakes staged a long and thrilling stretch duel Sunday at Keeneland, where Humaita barely out-nodded Aud in the 1 1/2-mile turf race for fillies and mares.

Humaita, the 8-5 favorite under Robby Albarado, got her nose ahead when it counted to barely nip Aud, the 2-1 second choice in a field of seven. Literacy finished eight lengths back in third.

"It's just one of those things where it was a head bob," said Pat Day, who rode Aud. "We took the lead and just couldn't hold our position."

Humaita, a 4-year-old German-bred filly owned by Andreas Jacobs, $5.20 to win in what may have been her final race. "We are probably going to have her bred next year," said trainer Graham Motion.

The winning time was 2:33.28 over a soft course.
