HRTV starts Ellis coverage

Email

HorseRacing Television began televising action from Ellis Park on Friday after failing to show any races from the Henderson, Ky., track for the first three days of the meet that began July 11.

Aaron Vercruysse, an on-air personality who assists with programming content for the California-based network, said a simple oversight had led to Ellis being omitted from HRTV broadcasts on July 11, 12, and 16.

"There were no problems with contracts or anything of that nature, and we intend to show the full card today," Vercruysse said Friday morning. "And as far as I know, we will continue to show Ellis for the rest of their meet."

The Ellis meet runs through Sept. 7.

* Trainer Bill Connelly recorded the 1,000th victory of his career when Button Dancer ($4) won the first race Friday at Ellis Park.

* Jockey Calvin Borel will be available for autographs from 2-3 p.m. during the Sunday program at Ellis Park.
