Howsitgoin goes after 3rd straight

Email

Howsitgoin looks to remain perfect in three starts this season in a 6 1/2-furlong optional $40,000 claimer, which is the feature race at Northlands Park in Edmonton on Wednesday.

Howsitgoin will face six other fillies and mares, including Papoose Dancer, who also will be seeking her third straight win.

In her first start of the season July 12 at Northlands, Howsitgoin was entered for a $17,500 price and was claimed by trainer Joan Petrowski. In her first appearance for her new barn, Howsitgoin stepped up to the $30,000 level and won at Wednesday's distance.

Rickey Walcott picks up the mount.

* Langara Lass ($5.40) was a game winner of last Sunday's $100,000 Sonoma. Trained by Vancouver-based David Forster, Langara Lass had remained in Edmonton following her fourth-place finish as the 7-5 choice in the July 22 Northlands Oaks.

In the 1 1/16-mile Sonoma, Langara Lass stalked the pace of She's Italian and Tartan Star and rallied to score by a neck. Tartan Star held for second, with She's Italian third and 3-2 favorite Gabe's Prospect fourth in the field of five 3-year-old fillies.

- Braetta, a disappointment in two previous starts at the Northlands meeting, returned to form for a $22.70 upset in last Saturday's $50,000 Madamoiselle. With Real Simard in the irons for the first time, Braetta closed steadily to prevail by 1 1/2 lengths in the 1 1/16-mile Madamoiselle.
