Here's my race-by-race rundown of Sunday's pick four at Woodbine on Sept. 16, 2012. I'm building my wager with TicketMaker, found exclusively on DRF.com. The bet increments are $0.50, and my budget is $100. As a special incentive for DRF Bets members, make sure to play the Woodbine Late Pick 4. If you hit it, DRF Bets will give you a 10% bonus on your winnings, up to $500!
Race 8 (Northen Dancer Turf Stakes)
WIGMORE HALL (#7) ran respectably in last year’s Arlington Million, came here and won this race. Well, it looks like déjà vu all over again as the 5yo again ran decently at AP and comes here for a longer trip he seems to prefer. SCALO (#4) came from Europe for the Grade 2 Sky Classic and was a fine 3rd. With that under his belt and more ground he figures tough. MUSKETIER (#6) won the Grade 3 Singspiel at this trip here June 24 off a layoff and comes here off a freshening. This is his distance. FORTE DEI MARMI (#5) won the aforementioned Sky Classic and may be this good though it’s a new, longer trip.

Race 9 (Allowance Race)
MO JO QUEEN (#4) comes here in peak form. The filly won for $40K here Aug. 1, was claimed, moved to this level and finished a fine 2nd (4 lengths clear). She holds a strong hand. PULPATION (#3) actually cleared this level 2 months ago on turf but was DQ’d. She then found a stakes too much so the drop helps. She’s handled this main track. HURDLE RATE (#2) looked super breaking her maiden Aug. 25 and may have turned the corner.

Race 10 (Ricoh Woodbine Mile)
WISE DAN (#3) may be the best horse in North America. He’s proven on dirt and synthetic but his monster Grade 2 win at SAR last month says THIS may be his best game. CITYSCAPE (#7) is the highest rated of the Euro raiders having faced top company, vs. which he’s more than held his own including a Group 1 win in Dubai.

Race 11 (Allowance Race)
MISS SCARLET ROAD (#1) may be ready to turn the corner as she comes off a couple solid runner-up efforts in similar spots. MEMORIES OF LOVE (#7) was no match for ‘ROAD here May 20 but was freshened and came back firing with a big win here Aug. 12. ASHIGHASTHEHEAVENS (#9) may have figured things out. After 2 dull outings off a long layoff she rallied to win at 22-1 at this trip here Aug. 25. TOTAL BLISS (#5) didn’t fire her best shot Aug. 22 but is reunited with Bahen who has been up for her best work.

My wagers
With TicketMaker I'm able to put greater emphasis on my "A" selections while still having coverage with my "B" and "C" picks just in case. This allows me to maximize my budget for this pick four - and come out under budget.

Best Bets
MOST HAPPY FELLA, reclaimed from last, drops to easier spot after setting pressured pace vs. odds-on Pinball; both wins last year came on this track. ARTIE LUVSTO PARTY has a knack for surprises, with three lifetime wins coming at 33-1, 17-1 & 11-1 (two on this track); entrymate EQUIVOCATION gets major rider switch first off a claim. PURE ATTITUDE among top 3 in wins & earnings and snug fit to date clause.
