How to bet Tampa Bay Downs's Saturday Pick 4 - March 10, 2012

Email

Here's my race-by-race rundown of Friday's pick four at Tampa Bay Downs on March 10, 2012. I'm building my wager with TicketMaker, found exclusively on DRF.com.

Race 9 (Stonewall Farm Ocala Suncoast)

CIGUARAYA (#6) goes two turns for the first time but the Beyers are tough to ignore. She comes off a game try in a stake and the pedigree suggests that the extra ground is well within her scope. WAIT TIL DAWN (#4) has speed and an inside post, but she can also rate if need be; that versatility, and her Beyers, make her one of the main dangers in here. MELROSE WOODS (#3) was aided by a quick pace in that debut score at Santa Anita but she should get a favorable set up in this one as well. Those are the main three, but backup tickets will include MODULATE (#2) and FORCE DE LA NATURE (#7).

Race 10 (Grade 3 Hillsborough)

HOOH WHY (#3) and UNBRIDLED HUMOR (#6) come out of the same race, the Sunshine Millions Filly & Mare Turf at Gulfstream, which featured a deep field. Not only that, but that was a race which was a little light on pace, making the effort by HOOH WHY all the more impressive. This race flow also seems to favor the speeds, as this is another field lacking obvious pacesetters, and that gives UNBRIDLED HUMOR a square shot at turning the tables. Secondary tickets will feature DENOMINATION (#5) and ZAGORA (#7).

Race 11 (Grade 2 Tampa Bay Derby)

TAKE CHARGE INDY (#10) was on the lead last time but he has already demonstrated in his short career that he can also take back and make one run, and that ability should serve him well in this Tampa Bay Derby, which has no shortage of speed. GOLDEN TICKET (#2) draws inside and has the tactical speed to get position, which may mean he gets a perfect stalking trip behind the leaders, and first jump on TAKE CHARGE INDY, who draws wider. PROSPECTIVE (#1) and BATTLE HARDENED (#7) ran one-two in the Sam F. Davis and both figure to benefit from the anticipated pace scenario, as should COZZETI (#6). Backup tickets will include TELL ALL YOU KNOW (#5), RAVELO'S BOY (#8), SPRING HILL FARM (#9) and, to a lesser extent, TWIN (#3).

Race 12 (maiden special weight)

SPEEDY WAR (#2) ran well in defeat last time, actually making the lead between calls before tiring in the late stages. LITTLEBITCRANKY (#1) was off the board in her debut but the figure she earned fits well enough here, as that race came up on the quick side. QUEEN OF ENGLAND (#7) also fits in terms of her figures. KICHE's SPIRIT (#5) comes from a low-profile but clever barn. BEBOP (#6) and PARISH (#9) are firsters with intriguing works (6).
