How to bet Gulfstream Park's Pick 4 - March 30, 2013

Email

Here's my race-by-race rundown of Saturday's pick four at Gulfstream Park on March 30, 2013. I'm building my wager with TicketMaker, found exclusively on DRF.com. I am betting in increments of $0.50 with a budget of $100.00.

Race 10 (Skip Away Stakes)

TAKE CHARGE INDY (#8) was a superb 2nd in the Grade 1 Clark and then ran into freakish Graydar in the Grade 1 Donn. He drops and faces no one like that here. CIGAR STREET (#9) has blossomed this meet after a layoff and may be this good. GOLDEN TICKET (#3) won last year’s Grade 1 Travers (in a DH) and has come back sharp. PANTS ON FIRE (#10) was a fine 3rd in the Grade 3 Hal’s Hope and romped over some nice foes here Feb. 15 so he’s on top of his game.

Race 11 (Appleton Stakes)

OMAYAD (#11) was a monster in Chile and flashed talent last spring. He’s been freshened and can be scary with a return to top form. SILVER MAX (#7) makes his first start of the year after a super 3yo season. They have to go get him. JOES BLAZING AARON (#4) comes off a sharp 2nd in the Grade 3 Canadian Turf and has the speed to give ‘MAX a fight. ZA APPROVAL (#3) was troubled late in the Canadian Turf and it may have cost him 2nd. BEAU CHOIX (#9) looks good as ever at age 6 as he rallied well in the Canadian Turf.

Race 12 (Florida Derby)

ITSMYLUCKYDAY (#3) has blossomed. It may be because he adores this place, that he’s emerged as a top 3yo, or a bit of both. Regardless, he figures tough. SHANGHAI BOBBY (#1) ran splendidly when 2nd to ITSMYLUCKYDAY in the Grade 3 Holy Bull, finishing far clear of 3rd while also breaking the track mark. While some wonder about his distance capabilities regarding the Ky. Derby he should be just fine for this distance and should get a great trip stalking speedster MERIT MAN (#8). ORB (#6) looked super powering home to win the Grade 2 Fountain of Youth here last month. That being said, he got a dream set-up pace-wise. He may not get such a gift here.

Race 13 (Allowance Race)

CELESTIAL KITTEN (#11) finished strongly to just miss by a nose here Feb. 24. She has ample back-class and looks back on her game. TRANSGRESSION (#1) made a bold wide run but couldn’t sustain it. She had a brutal post that day (12) but goes to the rail. SWEAR ME IN (#2) comes here sharp as a tack with tactical speed and versatility. TOWN FLIRT (#9) has done much of her best work here.

My wagers

With TicketMaker I'm able to put greater emphasis on my "A" selections while still having coverage with my "B" and "C" picks just in case. This allows me to maximize my budget for this pick four and come in $9.00 under budget.
