Here's my race-by-race rundown of Saturday's pick four at Gulfstream Park on Jan. 19, 2013. I'm building my wager with TicketMaker, found exclusively on DRF.com. I'm betting in increments of $0.50 toward my total budget of $100.
Race 8 (Sunshine Millions Sprint Stakes)
STAR HARBOUR looked like a new horse this fall with 2 smashing wins in NY. He’ll be tough if he brings that form here and a bullet Jan. 14 says he may well do that. BAHAMIAN SQUALL blasted some nice sprinters here Dec. 2. He’s the real deal and came back with 3 bullet works. BERNIE THE MAESTRO has won 4 of his last 5, including a SW here Dec. 1. OFF THE JAK gave classy Indiano fits in the Grade 3 Mr. Prospector and must be respected. LITTLE DRAMA can scary these on his best day.

Race 9 (Sunshine Millions Turf Stakes)
DOUBLES PARTNER comes off a fine 3rd behind Grade 1-caliber runners Data Link and Ultimate Eagle in the Grade 2 Citation at BHP and in his 2 prior starts faced Wise Dan and Little Mike. He faces no one like that here. BAD DEBT was 3rd in this last year. He has some quality and can bounce back after a rare dull run here Dec. 22.

Race 10 (Florida Sunshine Millions Classic Stakes)
MUCHO MACHO MAN and RON THE GREEK tower over these. The former ran splendidly to be 2nd in the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Classic and has worked well for his title defense. ‘GREEK was 2nd to ‘MAN in this last year and the 2-time Grade 1 winner last year figures to be coming again.

Race 11 (Maiden Claiming Race)
ONE MINT JULEP didn’t run badly at all in his debut when 4th against straight maidens routing on turf. He can benefit from that and drop. This kin to millionaire Awesome Gem gets blinkers. MCILROY has been knocking on the door. A pair of 2nds on this course at this level last month may mean he’s ready to bust through. PRESTIGE WORLDWIDE will likely benefit from the experience of his debut and today’s drop. ROCK AND RYE showed he can run on turf when 3rd vs. straight maidens at AQU Dec. 5. EZZTHETIC may have needed his last. He’s kin to 3 grass winners. BIG SAM is kin to turf winner and turf Grade 2-placed New Edition and drops. IL VOLO showed talent on turf at CRC in November.

My wagers
With TicketMaker I'm able to put greater emphasis on my "A" selections while still having coverage with my "B" and "C" picks just in case. This allows me to maximize my budget for this pick four. I come out $4 under my budget.

Best Bets
SLIGO JOE finished third, fourth, or fifth against classier company in each of his last four races. He ran fast enough in his last two starts to beat this type on the plunge from $10,000 optional claiming into this $5,000 N1Y field. LATCH LIGHTING only finished fifth as the favorite at this class level last time. He should be a factor today, but he seems more likely to contend in the minor exotic slots than he is to beat this field. STEALTH HERO ran a dull race when he beat just one opponent here on a muddy track in his last race.
