Here's my race-by-race rundown of Saturday's pick four at Golden Gate Fields on Feb. 16, 2013. I'm building my wager with TicketMaker, found exclusively on DRF.com. I'm betting in increments of $0.50 toward my total budget of $100.
Race 6 (Allowance Race)
WON WON OH FIVE (#8) may be a nice claim for Morey (34 percent off a claim). The colt was very sharp in SoCal and it’s great that Morey brings him back in a spot where he can’t love him via another claim. EAGLE SCREAMS (#5) is heading the right way and is a good fit here. REDMOND RIDGE (#6) may have turned the corner as he comes off 2 strong victories. His speed should have him in the thick of it from the start. DECKACARDS (#1) is back on his game and the class hike and fact Baze stays are good signs. DRESS CODE (#2) faced tougher in his last 2 and may appreciate the drop. He’s no stranger to this place, too.

Race 7 (Allowance Race)
KUMIVA (#7) hasn’t been seen since last spring and has some big gaps in his schedule but he pretty much fires every time and has done so off the bench as well. He faced some nice runners in SoCal. ROVING STORM (#1) has the speed to utilize the rail and may be set for his best after a fine comeback run. JOHN BULLY’S BOB (#6) is on the upswing having won 2 straight. He may be ready for this tougher task. RED CRÈME (#3) continues his fine form and figures in the mix. BLUES BLASTER (#9) won 2 straight here before running 4th here Jan. 12. A 5f bullet Feb. 7 (:59.60) says he’s doing well.

Race 8 (El Camino Real Derby)
MANANDO (#4) showed ample talent down south including a fine 3rd in the Grade 3 Sham to top-tier 3yo Goldencents. ZEEWAT (#5) is the local kingpin and his versatility gives Baze options. CARVING (#8) is a SoCal SW who’s been freshened since trying the Grade 1 CashCall Futurity. The 3 times he did not compete in a Grade 1 race, he won.

Race 9 (Claiming Race)
COMPROMISING TXT (#10) is a 4-time winner here. He comes off a good 3rd for $6,250 here Jan. 31 and the drop may be key. GOLD STAR (#7) continues his good form. His only dull race in recent months came when he was in too deep.

My wagers
With TicketMaker I'm able to put greater emphasis on my "A" selections while still having coverage with my "B" and "C" picks just in case. This allows me to maximize my budget for this pick four. I come out $4 under my budget.

Best Bets
SIZZLING GOLD looks well situated. The 6yo mare has been a pro for a long time - you don't win 11 times by accident - and some of her best work has come sprinting on turf, on THIS turf course. After nearly 4 months off she came back to be a solid 3rd for $40K on this course June 2 and with that under her belt and a 2-level class drop she looks primed. Oh, that bullet :47 move here June 15 looks like a thumbs-up, too. HEAT TRAP finished full of run to get up in the final stride and in her turf sprint debut here May 19. She obviously has ability but it's first time vs.
