Hot Storm wins the 17th running of the $63,750 Weekend Delight Stakes on Saturday at Turfway Park.

Hot Storm, ridden by Jesus Castanon, drew clear in the final furlong after pressing all the pace and captured the 17th running of the $63,750 Weekend Delight Stakes on Saturday at Turfway Park in Florence, Ky.

Hot Storm, a 3-year-old Stormy Atlantic filly trained by Dallas Stewart, returned $11.80 as fourth choice in a field of nine fillies and mares. Dewey's Trick, a 21-1 shot, finished 3 1/2 lengths behind the winner in second, and it was another three lengths back in third to Born to Dance. Injustice, the 9-5 favorite, was fourth.

The victory for Hot Storm was her second in nine starts this year and her first since her 21-1 upset in the Sunshine Millions Oaks at Santa Anita in late January. Bred in Florida by a partnership that includes owner Robert Adams, Hot Storm finished six furlongs in 1:11.54 over a fast Polytrack surface.

Three horses were early scratches, including one of the favorites, Cobra Lady.

Castanon has been one of the hottest riders on the Kentucky circuit in recent months, having won the riding title at the recently ended summer meet at Ellis Park.
