'Hot Hoofs' in Canterbury trials

Hot Hoofs N Traffic, 6 for 9 last year, is looking for his first 2004 victory in the trials to the Bayer Legend Central Challenge for 3-year-olds at Canterbury Park on Sunday.

In 2003, Hot Hoofs N Traffic won two minor Midwestern futurities, the Grade 2 Kansas Jackpot and the Grade 3 Iowa Double Gold.

This year, he has taken on stronger competition in his two starts. He finished second in his Remington Park Derby trial and qualified for the Grade 1 derby, but finished ninth.

Dash to the End may pass

Dash to the End, winner of the Grade 1, $350,000 Kindergarten last Saturday at Los Alamitos, may not pursue the Los Alamitos Bonanza, the $1 million bonus that goes to the winner of the Kindergarten, Ed Burke Memorial Futurity, and Los Alamitos Million.

After the Kindergarten, owner Enrique Gonzalez said that Dash to the End may not contest the Ed Burke Futurity on July 31. Last year, Gonzalez won the Kindergarten and Ed Burke with Hawkish, who was defeated in the Los Alamitos Million.

"I am willing to wait until the Million with her," Gonzalez said of Dash to the End. "I was in the Million with Hawkish last year, but we came up short. I do not want to lose that race again."
