Caesar Kimmel, a successful businessman and horse owner best known for his risqué naming of Thoroughbreds, died Saturday in south Florida. He was 91.Kimmel, founder of and longtime executive at Warner Communications, bought his first horse in 1960 and remained in the business for almost 50 years. His most successful runners included Flat Fleet Feet, Miss Golden Circle, Hidden Lake, Flying Chevron, I’m Splendid, Blazing Fury, Buzz My Bell, Fabulously Fast, and Timber Reserve.Kimmel also was the owner of other interestingly named, if less successful, runners, including Bodacious Tatas, Cunning Stunt, Peony’s Envy, and Shiny City Shoes.“His biggest enjoyment was his involvement in the horse business,” said John Kimmel, Caesar’s son and a successful trainer on the New York and Florida circuits. “A lot of people in the racing business looked up to him and admired him. He took me to the track at Monmouth Park when I was 13 or 14 years old.”
