Horse of the day for Tuesday

Delaware Park - Race 6
About 1 1/8 Miles (Turf)
Maiden Special Weight
3-year-olds and upward, fillies and mares
Purse $40,000.

DAY BIRD rallied to make the front in midstretch of career debut before being outkicked in the shadow of the wire by a strong closer. She finished ahead of next-out winner La Perouse (Philly Park maiden special weight with 65 Beyer), and boasts the same Dynaformer - Storm Bird 'nick' as Grade 1 turf winner Sand Springs. Trainer Jonathan Sheppard excels (27%) with second-time turf routers getting Lasix for the first time at this class level, and jockey Jeremy Rose chose this mount over CALIFORNIA RUNAWAY.
SCAIFE ROAD has been plagued by layoff lines throughout her career, but she could grab the early advantage stretching out off Belmont turf sprint, and a slow pace would definitely help her chances. She shows some good works in preparation for this start.
SENSE OF CLASS also has been working well. This $1.5M yearling buy is a half to Group 3 turf winner Castle Gandolfo, and took serious tote action for her debut. She failed to show speed that day, but the addition of blinkers may perk her up, and Ramon Dominguez chose her over LISAS MEDAL. Trainer Michael Matz has connected with 18% of his second-time starters over the past five years as compared to 9% of his debut runners (according to Formulator 4.1 stats) so expect SENSE OF CLASS to take a step forward.
LISAS MEDAL shows improved Beyers, and almost overcame a moderate early pace to win her most recent start. She shouldn't be ignored in exotic wagers.
