Horse of the Day for Thursday

Churchill Downs - Race 6
6 1/2 Furlongs
Maiden Special Weight
2-year-old fillies

OVER THE EDGE looks like an intriguing firster for Rusty Arnold. The daughter of Thunder Gulch shows a string of five furlong workouts in preparation for her debut, and attracts a top rider in Rafael Bejarano. There doesn't seem to be much speed in this spot so Over the Edge may be quick enough to extricate herself from her inside post. Arnold shows a flat-bet profit with his juvenile firsters over the past five years. Odds of 5-1 or more seem fair for this young filly. CLASSIFY ran into graded stakes winner Octave in career debut, then raced wide in quick maiden heat at Churchill. She's been working well for this, and the Blasi barn has been on a tear at the meet. Both THE LUCKIEST and ORANGE CRUSH must draw in from the also-eligible list, but either could win. The former shows some strong five furlong works for Nick Zito while ORANGE CRUSH adds blinkers, and has some early speed. BRIGHT OUTLOOK showed a bit of speed in debut over Polytrack, and may work out a good outside stalking trip. GEM SLEUTH just missed in both starts over Polytrack. An inside-out tracking trip isn't out of the question.

Selections: Over the Edge to Win and Place (5-1 odds or more)
