Horse of the day for 7/11

Arlington Park - Race 9
6 Furlongs (Polytrack)
Maiden Special Weight (Illinois-breds)
3-year-olds and upward, fillies and mares
Purse $28,000.

SAXBY broke well in her debut, but was shuffled back along the inside entering the turn, and was checked midway on the bend. She professionally split horses in the stretch to grab the place, and it's nice to see her wheel back on only two weeks rest. She has some speed, and should be in close attendance to likely pacesetter LOTTA SALT.
NICKS is a half to stakes-placed runner Something Wicked (36-7-12-2, $256,110, six wins routing), and she took lots of money for her career debut. She finished ahead of a pair of next-out winners in the slower division of statebred maidens that day, and may relax better with blinkers off. She draws outside, and must avoid an ultra-wide trip. Lotta Salt may attempt to shake loose under the hustling Earlie Fires, but she blew a clear lead last time out when finishing just behind Nicks, and hasn't shown much stretch stamina this year. CAROLSBEENTAUKIN is a half to stakes-placed router Pampered (33-5-3-4, $158,498, all wins going long), but she didn't pick up her hooves last time after a pair of decent performances. She's eligible to run late for a piece.
