LAUNCHED MISSILE has lots of pedigree appeal as he's a three-quarter brother to stakes-placed sprinter Real West (20-4-5-1, $131,982, three wins in dirt sprints), stakes-winning sprinter Western Dreamer (8-2-2-3, $164,234, debut winner), and multiple stakes-winner Trajectory (10-6-3-0, $279,784), and is a half-brother to stakes-winning sprinter Wouldn't We All (54-12-9-6, $407,340). The dam was a stakes-placed sprinter (10-1-3-0, $40,063), and she is a full sister to multiple stakes-winner Potentiality (46-19-9-5, $526,341, 17 sprint wins). Launched Missile's sire, Mr. Greeley, has three debut winners this year, and he has done well when crossed with Relaunch (broodmare sire of two debut winners this year) mares (that 'nick' produced Grade 3 route-winner Puck). Trainer Bernie Flint has already sent out three debut winners this year including one at the current Churchill meet, and he sports a 27-163 record (17%, $2.55 ROI) over the last five years with firsters debuting with Lasix. Launched Missile cost $250,000 at public auction, and shows a bullet workout for his debut. He has the look of an intriguing newcomer.
GO RED GO is the first foal out of Golly Greeley, a stakes-winner of $113,640 (12-3-4-3 record, multiple Grade 3-placed). He shows a couple of bullet workouts, and the May 9 move matches up with trainer Cecil Borel's Electric Chant, a stakes-placed turf performer with a 92 Beyer top. At 15-1 on the board, he may be a live longshot. ARC LIGHT, a half-brother to stakes-placed sprinter Snub the Devil (26-4-3-2, $94,083), will make the third start of the form cycle, but don't think he's as good as that 93 Beyer earned in the slop last year. He has some speed, and will appreciate turning back in distance, but may take too much money. STORM BEACH caught the eye of the Keeneland clockers on April 20 as his 4 furlong move in 46.20 was termed a "very speedy effort." He may be the quickest from the gate, but could prove an underlay making his first start in almost six months. HUFFMAN didn't have the easiest of trips at Gulfstream, but is another runner with lots of layoffs on his form. He earned his career-best Beyer Speed Figure over this surface. ICE BOYZ is stuck on the also-eligible list, but he ran a big race off the bench to just miss last time out. He's a half to stakes-placed Royal Senorita (18-3-2-4, $13,340), and multiple stakes-winning sprinter Stormin Hanna (50-6-5-8, $329,489), and may revert to rating tactics in this spot if he goes.
R HALLOGRAEME showed speed at Calder last year, but must deal with a long layoff, and there are other quick ones entered to his inside. He'll have to hustle early to avoid being shuffled back going into the turn.
