The addition of blinkers may be just what the doctor ordered for PUSHED FOR TIME. A son of Forest Wildcat, Pushed for Time hasn't shown much early speed in his career, but the new eyewear may infuse some zip into his arsenal, and he is capable of a ground-saving, pace-tracking trip from the hedge. The barn has won with 17% of their newly-claimed runners over the past five years, and Pushed for Time ran some decent races on turf in New York and Louisiana last year. He ran very poorly last time at Turfway, but it's possible that he simply disliked that synthetic surface. There appears to be enough pace in here to adequately setup Pushed for Time's late kick, and he deserves another chance switching back to his preferred surface.
WITH CAT APPROVAL isn't the biggest dog in the fight, but he's had over 10 months to grow and mature, and he was forced four wide turning for home of his most recent start. That was his turf debut, and he was favored against maiden special weight opposition that day. The half to stakes-winner Catniro (72-11-10-11, $352,168, 6-26 on turf) may be the one to beat, but the plethora of layoff lines coupled with his 3-1 morning quote may make him a bit of an underlay. J T KINGFISHER hails from a struggling barn, but he finished ahead of the top pick over Polytrack at Turfway, and should improve for his second start of the form cycle. He is a half-brother to three turf winners, and should appreciate getting an opportunity to travel over the green. At 12-1 on the morning line, he may be the value play. TIMEFORTONY and LUKENSTEIN have run decent races lately, but both are mired on the also-eligible list.
SEFA PLAYER has been well-beaten in all three of his races, but has Nijinsky II on the bottom of his pedigree, and that should help him handle the turf. He faced recent Lexington Stakes upsetter Slew's Tizzy two back at Turfway, and has never been this cheap. MIDWAY STATION ran well over Polytrack two back at Turfway, then found Keeneland maiden special weights too tough for him. He has good early speed, and will appreciate the class relief.
