Horse of the day for 4/17

Tampa Bay Downs - Race 11
7 Furlongs
Maiden Claiming ($8,000-$7,000)
3-year-old fillies
Purse $8,600

SEVEN COURSES has several angles working in her favor as she makes the important third start of the form cycle, adds blinkers, and has never raced this cheaply. She hasn't shown much early speed in her career, but the blinkers may enhance whatever zip she owns, and her trainer is winning at a strong 24% clip for the meet. Seven Courses earned a competitive Beyer Speed Figure vs. Illinois-bred maiden special weights as a juvenile, and may offer some value in this spot.
MISS BULLY is the logical choice following a runner-up effort at this level, and she may attempt to shake loose once again from her inside post. There are some stamina issues for her to address as she has never gained ground from the stretch call to the wire, and lost 10 lengths in the stretch of her only other try at this distance. MY PAL SUE faced a runaway winner in her first start at this level, and she should improve adding Lasix for her second start of the form cycle. She draws a wide post, but has enough speed to find a good forward spot tracking the leader from the outside. WALKIN ON T MOON doesn't have much speed, but has a smidgen of a late kick, and would benefit if Miss Bully and My Pal Sue hook up a spirited speed duel.
MELODIC ESCAPADE takes a big drop in class while adding Lasix.
