TURN OF EVENTS raced in and among horses going into the turn of his most recent start before professionally rallying along the rail for the runner-up spot. Usually not a fan of 6-year-old maidens in claiming events, but this gelding not only finished ahead of three horses that he'll face today in that March 2 heat, but he defeated a pair of next-out winners as well (Away Down South returned to win by open lengths at 2-5 odds while I'll Try dominated opponents on turf at Turf Paradise at 3-10 odds). Turn of Events should get a favorable pace scenario, and should benefit from his recent start at this elongated sprint distance.
AMERICAN INFLUENCE has burned tons of money in his career, and he's been the beaten favorite in four of his last five races. He has excellent early speed, and is capable of improvement in his second start of the form cycle, but he didn't change leads last time out, and is a big question mark at this distance. Perhaps the removal of the blinkers will keep him focused in the stretch, but he just doesn't seem reliable at short odds again. VIA RODEO has had 16 chances to break his maiden to no avail, and will have to deal with the demanding inside post position, but he's been right there in his last few races, and his Beyers fit very well with these. He's training well, and should be running hard in the lane. SCOTCH TALK showed speed in two tries over cushion track last year, then missed the break in his first start over this surface last time out. The lightly-raced colt has some upside, and should be prominent when they turn for home.

The selection: Turn of Events to win (7-2 odds or more)

YTD record based on starts, wins, top pick in the money, and profit/loss of that day's selection: 29-4-10 +($36.80)
